Defining Artists prides itself in its one-on-one relationships with each of its clients.
Power comes in many packages. Our power and influence rests in how well we know our talent and how well the buyers in town know us. For years we’ve put our money where our mouth is. We’ve developed relationships built on truth and integrity, not smoke and mirrors. We’re proud of who we are, what we do, and how we do it.
Defining Artists has grown exponentially since the teaming of Dorr and Binder in 2004. A particular niche for Defining Artists is in finding and developing new talent, consistently putting yet-to-be-discovered actors in their first breakout roles and creating successful and lasting careers. Defining Artists has enjoyed great success in taking established talent to the next level and in re-launching careers. “The work we do is sometimes laborious,” says Binder. “We have to dig in and fight for our talent, but isn’t that what it’s all about?”

REPRESENTS: Film & TV Actors Ages: 13-64
Kim Dorr-Tilley has bought and sold talent in Hollywood for over twenty five years. She began her career as a talent agent in the Youth Department of BBA in 1993. While continuing to grow this division, Kim immediately applied herself to her passion: putting actors of all ages to work. She developed the Adult Theatrical Department slowly but surely, selecting talent not only on the content of their resume, but more specifically on the quality of their work. Although Kim was wooed over the years by larger agencies, she decided to commit herself to her own business and build the sort of talent agency of which she could be proud while working in an environment she enjoyed. She considers the evolution of Defining Artists to be one of her crowning achievements. Prior to becoming a Talent Agent, Kim worked as a casting director at The Arthur Company, an independent production company in association with MCA/Universal. Spanning over eight years, Kim grew with this company as they produced television for basic cable, syndication and prime time. Kim hails from Denver, CO (go Broncos!). She attended the University of Denver where she completed a BA with a double major in Theatre and Mass Communication. In her senior year, she worked at the Denver Center Theatre Company in their outreach program. She was accepted into the first graduating class of the National Theatre Conservatory but left the program to move to Los Angeles in 1984. Kim also holds a Master’s Degree in Divinity from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena.
Dede Binder has been a Talent Agent for 20 years. She started her agenting career at a boutique agency, David Shapira & Associates and has represented and nurtured the careers of actors such as Brooke Shields, Ryan O’Neal, Valerie Harper, Lorenzo Lamas and a host of actors in the daytime arena. While representing such notable actors, Dede has taken joy and pride in working with new talent, guiding and establishing their careers. After her tenure at DSA, Dede oversaw the Talent Management division of Artists Only Management, where they represented Academy Award winning actor, Jon Voight. She enjoyed strategizing with her clients in pursuing long-term goals for their careers and during that time, represented such actors as Eileen Brennan, Stefanie Powers, Maeve Quinlan, among others.
Dede felt honored to be accepted to The Juilliard School for Drama in their intensive summer program prior to attending Hofstra University in NY. When she moved to Los Angeles, she worked for a television rep firm selling commercial time to markets across the country, prior to her foray into the entertainment business. During her career as an Agent and Manager, Dede has lectured on panels at The Learning Annex, UCLA Adult Classes, The Hollywood sponsored Weekend Actors Workshop, and various Actor Seminars. Dede has volunteered for Cedars-Sinai Hospital Pediatrics ward, the Red Cross, Aids Project L.A, and School on Wheels.
Breanna Bell graduated from the University of San Diego with degrees in Communications Media Studies and Business. She began her career at a PR Firm in Las Vegas which affirmed her desire to work in the entertainment industry. There she worked with some of the strip’s top Headliners as well as popular muscial acts at that time including Britney Spears and NSync. In 2002 she moved to Los Angeles and, with a partner, began operating a satellite office of a Canadian Agency called CTM. In 2003, after about a year, CTM decided to shut it’s LA doors and a position became available at Defining Artists. At Defining Artists she began by working in the world of Independent film and continues to enjoy that world. She is now a Partner at the Company and has a keen eye for discovering up and coming talent.
